We were recently contacted by Bob in Warwickshire who required a new Bailey Pegasus 554 mattress. The original factory fitted Bailey caravan mattress had seen better days and was beginning to cause discomfort for Bob. After deciding something had to be done, he commissioned us to make a new memory foam mattress for the rear transverse bed in his Caravan. Unfortunately with both caravan and motorhome mattresses, there is no such thing as standard size mattress. Its typical for each make and model to have its own unique design of mattress. For this reason, many people find themselves restricted to a small range of mattresses offering little choice. For this reason all of our mattresses are cut to size which allows the customer to specify their own requirements. When you place an order with Custom Size Beds, we take your measurements and program them into our state of the art machinery. Once programmed, the computer controlled machine then cuts to the required shape and size with extreme precision.
Once the mattress has been cut to the required size, our stitching team will tailor make a zip off quilted cover to fit. For many of our customers, this is their favourite feature of the new mattress. Should your new transverse caravan mattress ever become stained you can simply unzip the cover and clean it. This is also handy when you come to sell the vehicle. Simply clean the fabric cover and the mattress looks like new and feels fresh!

Cut to fit your Bailey Pegasus 554
Bob gave us all of his required dimensions and we sent back a clear and detailed production plan to check over. Once the mattress had been cut, we vacuum packed and rolled the mattress prior to dispatch to ensure that installation is as simple as possible. The diagram below shows the scale plan we used for production. The 5 dimensions allow us to produce the transverse island mattress with perfect accuracy. In this instance our customer opted to have the mattress made with a split and zip join. This allows the bed to slide back providing better access to the walkway when not in use. Some customers opt to have the mattress made as one complete piece for enhanced comfort.
