How to measure your new mattress
When taking measurements, you can measure your bed frame or existing mattress. For the very best results however, we recommend measuring the bed frame in line with the guidance offered below:
Is your mattress enclosed?
If your mattress sits inside a frame or in-between walls, we recommend ordering a width and length 2CM smaller than the space it fits in. This gives a 1CM gap all the way round, perfect for tucking in sheets with ease!
Does your mattress sit freely on top of a base?
If your mattress isn’t enclosed (such as on a divan bed), then there’s no need to make any reductions to your measurements and you will get the best finish by going with exact dimensions.
What thickness should you order
Looking for the best night’s sleep?
If you have no restrictions on height, we recommend a depth of 20cm (8 inches) for ultimate comfort.
Need a thinner mattress?
If a thinner mattress is required, please follow the guidance below:
- 12cm or less: Upgrade to a firm feel for improved support
- 13cm and above: Read our guide on “weight considerations”
Which firmness rating should you order?
Regardless of your chosen firmness rating, the top layer of your mattress will remain the same. This means you’ll still enjoy the same level of comfort and pressure relief that you’d expect up top.
When you upgrade to a firmer feel, the bottom layer is swapped for a more supportive, higher density foam. This helps to provide you with a better level of support, as well as preventing you from sinking into the mattress as much.
For those that like their mattress to have a little more ‘give’, the standard firmness rating is usually the preferred choice.
Weight considerations
Under 15 stone?
If you weigh less than 15 stone, you can opt for any firmness rating providing your mattress has a thickness of 13cm or above. If thickness is less than 13cm, we recommending upgrading to our firmer feel for enhanced support.
Over 15 stone?
If you weigh 15 stone and above (but less than 20 stone), be sure to upgrade to our firmer feel for enhanced support.

Replacement for an inferior quality Motorhome mattress. Custom made to fit a non-standard sized rectangle with a corner cut off. I sent an accurate diagram (measure twice – cut once!) and received a quote the next day. I placed my order on a Monday, paid that day and the mattress was delivered on Wednesday. The mattress came vacuum packed in a roll so it was easy to carry into the motorhome and unpack in situ. The mattress with its tailor-made zipped cover fits the bed recess perfectly. Oh, and it’s comfortable too! Highly recommended for price, quality and service.

What can I say – one seriously ‘Happy Camper’ !
I brought by Motorhome (CI Carioca 656) new in 2011 as it had 2 fixed bunks and a fixed queen size over the cab so my wife and I did not have to convert the seating into a bed at night time, and we have basically had to put up with the original mattresses for nearly 5 years as I was unable to find replacements (either ready made or made to order),
The original rear bunk mattresses were about 3″ (75mm) deep and consisted of 4 parts of fairly solid foam covered in the standard seating cover material all pushed together which left a gap of about 3″ (75mm) all round in the bunk bays and initially they would move apart in the night making for a VERY uncomfortable night, by adding a custom (self made) topper, fleecy blanket and fitted sheet with lots of Velcro straps underneath to hold everything super tight together they were useable by me but still barely bearable, and being over 50 years old I simply had to do something, especially with my wife being disabled (severe osteoarthritis & sciatica, bad enough that she is on Morphine 24/7-365 !) she simply could not sleep in the bunk and had to climb the ladder (with much pain and discomfort) to use the overhead (which is hinged for access so is only in 2 parts sewn together), again only being 3″ (75mm) deep foam.
Well, when I saw ‘Custom Size Beds’ advert on eBay saying ‘IF YOU CAN DRAW IT – WE CAN MAKE IT’ I accepted the challenge & I measured up, emailed them and received an instant response to clarify a few small details, we went back and forth a few times, both via email and phone call as I modified my sizing and spec and ‘Custom Size Beds’ were simply soo helpful, we settled on the final sizes etc and I was given a price which I was very happy with, we bartered a bit for doing both bunk mattresses at the same time and the order was placed and paid for with an expected delivery date of approximately 10 working days.
Well, 5 working days later a box arrived (about 120cm long x 30cm x 30cm) containing both the mattresses, fully compressed and sealed in a thick poly bag, having had Memory Foam mattresses before I knew on unpacking the mattresses that they would take a day or so to return to their original size and thickness, after allowing then to lay flat for 24 hours, sure enough they were Millimeter perfect in size to my exact specs, with a made to measure, beautifully tailored & stitched cover which is also fully zippered (for easy removal in case of the need to launder) as above, what can I say, they are soo comfortable, they fit the bunk bays PERFECTLY, and they also look great.
I am soo impressed that I am now going to measure up the overhead and have a ‘Custom Size Beds’ mattress for that one as well, I have already discussed the basic requirements and been told that once again, the special requirements are no problem, the overhead is just over queen sized in both length and width, needs to ‘Hinge’ in the middle (so the overhead can be raised when traveling) and is thinner and tapers off at the front end to allow for the curvature of the ‘Luton’.
Having spent the best part of 5 years calling various mattress manufacturers (plenty ‘Claiming’ to specialise in Motorhome, Caravan and Boat mattresses) only to be told my special requirements were simply not doable (is that actually a real word ?) I can & will heartily 100% recommend ‘Custom Size Beds’ for their service, their workmanship and materials and their Tip-Top service to anyone !

After having trouble with a previous company sending out a low quality mattress to the wrong specification. Myles was able to confirm that they could manufacture my mattress to the 50mm I required. Enabeling my mattress to fit into the elevating roof of my camper van. He gave offered a range of choices of the foam construction and gave some great advice.
Despite my mattress being only 50mm thick it’s still surprisingly comfortable.

Stumbled across Custom Size Beds online when we were moving house. Second bedroom is tiny so Myles & the team talked us through our options on how to make the most out of the space. The service provided was friendly, helpful and incredibly efficient-I ordered bespoke mattress on the Tuesday and by Friday it had been delivered. I had a carpenter come make the bed frame, which the mattress fits perfectly-with a corner panel cut out where pipe work is housed.
I was surprised at how reasonable the cost was, considering it was made to measure and no more expensive as if buying a standard product off the shelf.

Mattress arrived in a timely fashion, in a box much smaller that you would expect. It then expands, as if by magic, to the exact size ordered. I ordered the 8″ thick version, which has 2″ of memory foam on top. I was recommended to have the firm mattress due to me weighing 105KG. However, I do find the mattresss very hard, like sleeping on the floor really. If I had the choice again I would order the medium.

It fitted perfectly, even though there was an unusual curve involved and having slept on it for our Scottish holiday on the NC500 we can confirm that it is very comfortable. This mattress fitted a tight and unusual space perfectly, it looks and feels exactly like a regular mattress but was cut to size and conveniently delivered in a roll. It goes on a spare bed that usually serves as a sofa tucked into a tight alcove space, and without a really accurate cut it would not work. We approached custom size beds for a unusual shape mattress for the rear of a Sprinter camper conversion with side pods, we wanted the bed to flow into the pods to make the most use of the extra space and not compromise on comfort.
Working from photos and a diagram a mattress was produced that’s a perfect fit and is one of the most comfortable beds we have ever had. I would recommend the uprated memory foam/foam components.

I wanted to create a mini bedroom for a grand child by utilising the box room. All the possible designs left me with just a room with a single bed. My research brought me to this lovely website. I had a brief on line chat to confirm that my requirements can be met. Straight after I placed my order for a shorter than the standard single mattress, to the measurements of 90×175.
The price i thought was a bit much when compared to the standard mattresses. However, when the mattress arrived my view on the price has changed to good. The quality is superb, the measurements are precise and the delivery was faster than anticipated. My only criticism is on the custom made fitted sheets. I paid premium price for over 30£ each expecting premium quality. To my disappointment, the quality is not a much to the price but I kept them anyway, as I don’t have the time to return and replace.
My little room looks fab with a nice bed, wardrobe and slim chest drawers. I recommend this company 100%.

I measured as instructed, rang up because the options were only for bottom corner cut aways and mine was a top cutaway and i wanted to make sure that it made no difference. It doesn’t but perhaps the options could include top cutaways. I also discussed the depth of the memory foam because that is not specified on the site and after discussion I felt that the standard depths were fine. The assistant I spoke to was very helpful and I didn’t feel rushed in my discussion. I ordered it in March and it arrived soon after ordering and I immediately unrolled it and laid it out on the campervan bed base. And then it was May before I got away. The bed was perfect. Just soft enough on the top layer to absorb my sticky out bits (hips and shoulders) and firm enough underneath to support my spine and back whether i was laid on my side or back. I had three weeks of really comfortable sleeping whether on my side or on my back. The van supplied cushions were not uncomfortable but this is the very best I have slept in campervans or caravans. Really glad I decided on the purchase. I am now contemplating changing the mattress at home.

When you change your mattress, you don’t do so lightly. We had an excellent mattress in our motorhome, which we use frequently, and as a result, you could gradually start to feel the middle support strut of our electric bed coming through. We found CSB online. We really liked the online mattress builder and instant quote. The staff were excellent on the phone, very polite and very helpful. Delivery was prompt, well packed. Make sure you follow their instructions and leave the mattress for the hours specified before use. We’ve been sleeping on the mattress for a week now, and it is excellent, very happy with it. started the process mid week, after discussing options finalised the dimensions and completed the order by Friday. New mattresses were posted the following Friday and delivered Saturday morning. Excellent service. Have slept on them now and find them comfortable, on the firm side even though i didn’t take the firmer upgrade option advised as only 16cm deep( windows restricting height of bedding). Mine were cut and zipped to form a hinge over lifting wardrobe lid in the bed base which works well, the cut being the thickness of the mattress further along allowing the top to open when only lifting the end of the mattress to 90⁰. Only thing i’d say to be aware of is stating where you want the zipper head to be, on one it is against the wall which better than the other where it is on the bed edge where you sit to get in ( noticeable ,not uncomfortable, but would been better out the way against side wall), this was an oversight on my part really but something to be aware of.

Did a drawing of the size and shape of what I wanted and emailed it to them. They were very prompt in contacting me; they drew up the plan and sent it for me to check to be sure it was right, in my case this happed 3 times as I kept rechecking and had to make final adjustments. Once I was happy they put it into production . It came quicker than expected. We unpacked it let it settle. It is now in our motorhome and is a perfect fit and initially feels really comfortable. Just had a mattress delivered for a coach built Hymer fixed rear bed motorhome.
I was a bit sceptical about it when I ordered the mattress as it was the width of the van and 2 mtr long.
It went through the habitation door ok I got it in place put a strap round it in case I had to pull it back together to turn it round… I did have to but it went ok it’s now been in the van for 4 days and settled in nicely it’s 200 mm deep I’ve not used it yet but going away this weekend so let’s see..
